Sydney's Gordi wowed with her sparkling debut proper 'Nothing's As It Seems' back in October of last year. The 21-year-old medical student enlisted the help of Melbourne producer Benjamin McCarthy, who helped flesh out the skeletal compositions she'd crafted in her uni halls - and now Sophie Payten has expanded her airy indie-pop canon with another shapeshifting beaut of a track born from those sessions, 'Taken Blame'. Drawn from her forthcoming May EP, 'Taken Blame' leans on the fiery twangs of Angel Olsen and Joni Mitchell as well as more soothing, doleful synth strains, blossoming like a thorny rose at the climax. - DC
